Nom Nom Venture! Izakaya Fu-ga

Sauteed Assorted Mushrooms! A must!
"Lets go try out this hole in the wall!" Was what I remembered telling myself as i walked by this place. I don't remember what attracted me to this place. Maybe it was the fact that i like hole in the wall establishments, or it may be i liked how that long shadey stairway going into the ground called out to me. Heck, it may even be the fact that i just wanted to say FU-GA!.

Mussels Dynamite. one of my happy hour favorites
Beef Kushiyaki. MEAT!
First Impressions: I had no idea what to expect to be on the other side of the door when i reached the end of this flight of steep shadey stairs. Doesn't reveal or giveaway anything on the outside of this establishment. Once i got inside the only thought that ran through my head was "Crap i feel under-dressed! Is it too late to turn around?!" I couldn't really describe this place right off the bat. But me and my friends came to the conclusion that the words "Japanese Chic" is best fitted for it. It definitely feels classy (puts pinky up) and its reeeaaaalllllllyyyy chill.

Filet Mignon w/ Mushrooms, my new favorite
The Service: I was pretty intimidated right off the bat as soon as i walked in here. I was wearing some old jeans and a hoodie waiting to be seated. I was expecting the host to say something like "Sir, skid row is that way." or even just "No." and pointed his finger out the door. But instead i got greeted with a very cordial smile and got a warm welcome, which immediately put me at ease. The entire staff here are also very friendly and attentive. They check up on us often enough and don't give us any guff when we bombard them with orders throughout the entire time we are there. :P Although there was a time when a waitress forgot my dessert order while me and my friend waited a good 20 minutes or so. But she said she will pay for it which is alright by me.

Skirt Steak... I like meat...
Gingerbread Pudding
The Food/ Drinks: Ecstasy. Ahem, I mean... the food is great. It really is. I swear. Everything i had packs quite the punch full of flavor. And its just not all about taste too. Everything here is practically a feast for your eyes. All those lovely colors on your plate! Even their cocktail drinks! They look just like how they taste...great! One thing i keep forgetting about this place is that it's a Japanese restaurant. The food they serve is definitely more modern and not so much of the teriyaki this and teriyaki that type of food like in most of the other Japanese restaurants. Although they do have specialty rolls on their menu they do not have sushi. And also they don't serve a obscene amount of food on each plate. They are more modestly plated with smaller portions, kind of like tapas. Which means more room to try out for stuff!  And now, their drinks. They got a pretty good selection of beers (bottles and on tap) as my friends would say. Because i wouldn't really know since i hardly drink beer. But when it comes to their cocktails however, i think i may have already tried them all. And most of them are reaaallly good. But most people may not like them because of the fact that they can be a little bit on the sweet side. Which usually is a plus for me since I'm a sugar fiend and what not. Which usually leads to the booze always sneaking up on me.

Final Words: "Secretly Snazzy","Buried Treasure" are some descriptions one of my friends used to describe this place and i couldn't agree more! Definitely try this place out! Especially during happy hour! 2 Bucks off their cocktails! It's a great place to brings dates or just friends to lounge around a really chill place. I've been coming here for a while now and they usually have new things to try so it makes it hard to get tired of this place. Not that i want to...
Sangria w/ a pinch of cinnamon
Lychee Colada!
